Reflecting On Our Church's Day Of Prayer & Fasting

TO START

This week we paused the "Here's How" series while we had Rick Atchley come to bless our congregation in worship and word. While pausing the series, we wanted to take a week to reflect on the life of prayer in this church in light of the prayer and fasting event two of our deacons, Terry and Jason, led us through on February 5th

  • What is your prayer life like? Is praying simple for you? Is it challenging for you? Is it difficult for you to figure out where to start to pray or what to pray?

TO DISCUSS & TO PRAY (might be worth finding 3 group members to pray during group ahead of time)

The first area of prayer that Terry & Jason directed us towards praising God for the victories of the past, blessings of the present and songs of the future.

  • Invite your group to share a victory from the past and/or a blessing in the present.

Now, ask someone to lead your group together in prayer for the things that your group shared!

Next, we focused on the area of God’s People, considering what we needed to repent for, who we needed to forgive and what we needed to ask God for.

  • So, invite your group to share something they need to repent for, someone they need to forgive and/or what they need to ask God for.

Then, invite someone in the group to ask God in prayer to move us to collective and individual action on these fronts.

Lastly, we were invited to dream with God about God’s purposes for Round Rock. Ask your group to answer one or more of the following questions:

  • What do you believe God wants to see more of at Round Rock? What do you believe God wants us to be doing less of?

Next, invite someone to pray for God’s Spirit to move us to action as a church family and to discern where God is challenging us, wanting to start something new with us, and where God is inviting us to let go of certain things in the life of our church.

TO CLOSE

As a group, pray the following prayer together (adapted from Jason & Terry’s prayer for God’s Dominion)

Lord, have dominion over the Church’s vision

Let us have the vision of Christ,

Move us by the Holy Spirit

Glory to you, God.

Let the body of Christ be your hands and feet.

AMEN.
