#FINDINGJOY (Part 3): It Does(n't) Matter
#1 Listen to "#FINDINGJOY: It Does(n't) Matter."
Consider this Sunday morning’s lesson. You can listen here: http://bit.ly/1gCDfNL

What stuck out to you as interesting?
Did you encounter any challenging or re-orienting truth?
How’d it make you feel?
#2 Small and Big
On Sunday we said, too often, "Small things become big,and big things become small."
- Have you ever let a small thing become big? Share an example.
- Have you ever let a big thing become small? Share.
Tell your group about a time when you got it right, when you experienced joy in what could have been immensely frustrating or sad.
#3 Exercises in Perspective
Imagine you're in the following terrible situations. Help yourself find perspective. Why isn't this the worst thing ever? How can you find joy in it?
- You wreck your new car.
- You spill coffee all over your new shirt.
- You make a lousy presentation at work.
- Your best friend moves away.
- Your house is foreclosed on.
- Your spouse dies.
#4 Pray
Tonight as a group, pray. Ask members to share situations in which they're struggling to find joy and pray God would offer perspective.
#5 Read and Reflect
Consider the following passages. What brings real joy?
You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand. Psalm 16:11
The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him. Psalm 28:7
You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, Psalm 30:11
The whole earth is filled with awe at your wonders; where morning dawns, where evening fades, you call forth songs of joy. Psalm 55:8
#6 Better Later
Read 2 Corinthians 4:16-18; 5:1-5.
We said on Sunday: If you’re a follower of Jesus, you’re one of the only people on the planet who can say with absolute confidence, “It’s going to be okay.”
Do you always believe that? What might help you be more certain? In what practical ways might you remind yourself of this truth?

Watch Jim Valvano's ESPY award speech. He died two months after giving it.
Does he appear to have joy? Why do you think he does?
