This Is Why (part 4): Because Jesus Rose From The Dead
TO START
Before we jump into this week’s discussion: After hearing the entirety of this sermon series, what questions do you have? Are you confused about anything? Disagree with anything? Discuss it as a group. What do you think is the main purpose of so pointedly identifying the foundation of our faith?
TO READ
Read 1 Peter 1:3-9
Work your way through the passage asking these questions:
What is your “living hope”?
What is your inheritance? Take a minute to describe it.
How do you feel when you read that God is guarding you?
What will be the result of our temporary trials?
What is the effect of Jesus’ resurrection from the dead?
TO DISCUSS
Spend the bulk of your discussion time this week answering this one question:
What is happening in your life right now that would NOT be possible if Jesus had not risen from the dead. Encourage everyone to offer an answer.
TO PRAY
Let’s pray our way through I Peter 1:3-9.
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ!
In Your great mercy You have given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade.
Thank You.
Thank You for keeping this inheritance in heaven for us, we who through faith are shielded by Your power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.
In all this we greatly rejoice, though now for a little while we may have to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. We ask that our suffering would result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.
Though we have not seen him, we love him; and even though we do not see him now, we believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for we are receiving the end result of our faith, the salvation of our souls.
Thank You, Father, for your risen son.
