In the Beginning (part 1): Creator

In the first of three messages rooted in the creation story of Genesis 1, we train our eyes on God. Let’s focus tonight’s discussion on two questions primarily:

First, Who is God to you? (What are the words you use to describe Him? What do you see in your head when you imagine Him? What reminds you of Him?)

Second, Who is God as He’s revealed in Genesis 1?

Take your time answering each one. 

Should your group struggle with the second question, consider some of the glimpses at God’s character Justin mentioned on Sunday. What does it mean to you today, in your day to day life, that God is...

  • A God who orders chaos

  • A God who brings light into darkness

  • A God who wields infinite power

  • A God who is creative, full of imagination

  • A God who works with a Grand Purpose in mind

Consider especially God’s identity as Creator. What does God’s role/position as Creator mean to you? How does it change the way you interact with Him? With His creation?

We ended Sunday’s message with the promise: God will bring order to your chaos. 

  • Where are you currently experiencing chaos? 

  • What might you do to embrace God’s plan for order? 

  • Take a moment to pray asking God to bring to order to those areas of chaos.
