Grace relieves us of the impossible burden of earning God’s favor and our salvation. But it does not give us the right to be passive. To the contrary, grace teaches us to be actively righteous--a truth that seems to be lost on many religious people today.

Guilt has a way of crippling us. Pile enough of it on, and we feel as though there’s no reason to try to do better--“I already failed; I might as well fail some more...” Grace, though, leads us into a much, much different reality.
