Wonderland (Part 3): Wonder Struck
TO START
This week, we are in part 3 of a 5-part series called Wonderland, a series that invites us to explore and receive the good news that God has made a home with humanity in a way that is unfamiliar and unexpected. Our hope is that as this God comes to us in a wonder-filled way, we might just be filled with wonder as we prepare for and anticipate God's arrival.
Where do you most often find wonder in the common and ordinary? (i.e. in the leaves, in your family members, in food, in musical worship, in sunlight, in poetry, etc.)
Read Luke 2:8-17
Do you have a "singing of angels" moment that comes to mind? That is, a moment where you were overwhelmed by wonder?
What practices or states of mind or circumstances help you find wonder in both ordinary and extraordinary moments? And does the wonder you experience normally direct your attention to God?
TO CLOSE
Lord of both the light and the darkness, send your Holy Spirit upon our preparations for Christmas.
We who have so much to do and seek quiet spaces to hear your voice each day,
We who are anxious over many things look forward to your coming among us.
We who are blessed in so many ways long for the complete joy of your kingdom.
We whose hearts are heavy seek the joy of your presence.
We are your people, walking in darkness, yet seeking the light.
To you we say, "Come Lord Jesus!'
Amen.
