Psalm 23 (Part 2): Lead Us
TO START
This Sunday, we jumped into part 2 of a series rooted in Psalm 23. Each week we will slowly fix our minds on the verses of this well known song of the Bible to be people who not only claim the name of God, but also reclaim the realities that are true behind God’s name…
In this season, what has been the most common thought you wake up to in the morning (e.g., Why am I up?; Why did I sleep this way?; I didn’t get enough sleep; I don’t have enough time)?
This week we are inviting your group to choose questions from the multiple options below. Our hope is that these questions might help you to lead your discussion in a way that makes sense for your group this week as y’all “talk it out” and “live it out”.
TALK IT OUT AFTER READING PSALM 23:2-3
STUDY
Which interpretation of v. 2 do you find more realistic: (a) that God provides us with everything we need OR (b) that since our sufficiency is in Him we stand beside good things and shouldn’t be anxious?
What does it mean that God leads us “along the right paths for his name's sake?”
Are there examples from Scripture where God provides restoration/renewal in unexpected ways?
PROCESS
When do you know you're beginning to wander away from the things of God?
In what parts of your life do you tend to want to go back to how it was rather than recognizing god might be doing something new or different?
In your life, where are the places of “green pastures” or “still waters”?
LIVE IT OUT
PRACTICE
What would it mean for you to be fed and led by God this week? Where are you willing to go for the sake of being led by God?
When was the last time you asked God to help you to be more dependent on Him?
Share a time when you felt restored (rejuvenated or renewed). How did God get you there?
PRAY
We invite you to pray Psalm 23 together (we will do this each week)! And we invite y’all to pray for the summer ahead as a group.
