Filled & Led (Part 3): Filled with Fullness
TO START
Welcome back to Small Group Discussions! This Sunday, we jumped into part 3 of our Fall series focused on the new vision: “To be a Spirit filled & Spirit led church for those who don’t have a home yet”. Each week we will journey with a part of the book of Acts as we unpack what it could mean (and not mean) for us to be Spirit filled and Spirit led people. To start, We want to invite y’all to catch-up/check-in by having your group members share “one thing” from their summer. Here’s a list of possible prompts:
One funny thing that happened this summer
One difficult thing that happened this summer.
One thing I learned this summer.
One place I saw God this summer.
One problem I’m trying to solve these days.
One new thing that I did/started this summer.
Also, as you welcome your group back and jump into discussion, you might take a minute to make a plan and set goals for the coming year. Expectations related to how often you’ll meet, when you’ll meet, childcare, who is willing to host, any things y’all would like to do together, etc…We would encourage y’all to set some time throughout the year to have fun (go to a ballgame or a park, serve in the community, go to a movie, etc.
TALK IT OUT AFTER READING ACTS 2:1-13
STUDY
What other instances of wind and fire expressing the presence and activity of God in Scripture come to mind for you?
What do you imagine the experience was like for the Disciples? How did those around them respond? And why?
PROCESS
What areas of your life do you tend to expect the Spirit to work? Have you kept any areas in your life off-limits/closed off to the Spirit?
What have conversations about the Spirit looked like in your past or upbringing?
LIVE IT OUT
PRACTICE
How conscious are you in your daily life of being filled with and empowered by the Holy Spirit?
What’s bringing you down to your knees in this season of life? And what would it look like for you to invite the Holy Spirit to breathe life into you?
PRAY
Ask folks to share any prayer requests or praises from this past week and pray over those things and then we invite your group to together pray, “Come Holy Spirit and fill me”
